The College and Career Counseling program is a transformative initiative that enables exceptional students from working-class areas to compete with their more affluent peers by providing them with the resources, networks, and language they need. The program came about because of our interactions during summer schools, where we consistently heard the same demand from students: they needed help with career counseling.

 

The ever-expanding gap between elite private schools with fees north of Rs.50k and low-fee schools charging less than 1-2% of that amount is leading to an entrenched difference between the rich and the poor. Our program fights against this structural inequality by providing guidance and support to students from working-class backgrounds, helping them navigate the college and career landscape and providing them with the tools they need to succeed. Through the College and Career Counseling program, we strive to create a more just and equitable society, where everyone has an equal opportunity to reach their full potential and succeed in their chosen careers.

 

How do I get involved?

 

Want to make a difference in the lives of students from working-class backgrounds and help bridge the gap between the rich and the poor? Then join our College and Career Counseling program as a volunteer counselor.

 

The program pairs five students with one peer counselor and allows the councilor to set the meeting schedule and agenda. The program is currently being led by undergraduate students from leading universities across Lahore, but we are open to volunteers of all ages and experiences.

 

As a volunteer counselor, you will have the opportunity to provide guidance and support to students as they navigate the college and career landscape, helping them to succeed and reach their full potential. It’s a chance to make a real impact in the lives of students and work towards creating a more just and equitable society.
